After months and months of searching, we now have an additional coach! Marty (Martyn) O’Leary. Marty and existing coach Adam Harrison will be working as a “coaching team” enabling us to have a coach for more training sessions, to have coaches provide a greater input to crew development, selection and performance.
Marty has recently moved over from New Zealand with his Fiancé to work alongside Paul McGann at Melbourne High School. He has spent fifteen years rowing at varying levels. Five of those years were spent rowing at a High-Performance standard representing various New Zealand teams throughout Under 21, Under 23 and Elite. He experienced success as an athlete capturing the Under 23 Coxed Four Gold in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Beyond this he had the privilege to represent NZ in the Men’s eight (narrowly missing out on selection for Tokyo). Beyond rowing he has been working as a Secondary School teacher for the past four years. During this time, he's been fortunate to work as the Head Coach in Rowing at St John’s Hamilton School helping specifically to grow the programme and develop his own coaching philosophy. Marty is looking forward to working with Adam to provide a simple yet well thought out pathway to help Power House rowers experience the joy of a dynamic, moving boat.
Join us in welcoming Marty to The House!
