State Masters took place at Nagambie over Saturday and Sunday 27-28 April. The return to the usual two day format for the States championship was very welcome. The programs on both days were full but not hectic and allowed for the inclusion of sprint racing for the first time on the Sunday afternoon.

The mild weather provided perfect racing conditions. Powerhouse fielded a strong contingent of competitors on both days and achieved many placings in both club and composite crews, competing against the best crews in the state .The medal tally was 2 gold,9 silver and 7 bronze. Highlights for our non-composite crews included second places for the men’s E coxed quad and for both the mixed C and D coxless quads. Multiple mixed doubles raced against each other in the C category and crews came in second and third places. Our singles enjoyed success with thirds in the A/B,D and G/K events. Our female masters obtained a silver in the club four/quad coxed event and our men scored a bronze in the coxed four F category. There was also a medal in the big boats-bronze in the men’s E-K division.

Another highlight was the presentation of the State Masters crews . Representing Powerhouse was Emily “pocket rocket” Harridge in the bow seat of the women’s eight.

The State Masters concluded a successful season for many of our rowers .Given the depth of entries and success at this regatta, it is clear that Powerhouse will be strong position going into the 2024/2025 racing season.
