The Development Squad has had a very successful 2024.

One of our crews first competed at Ballarat in March. After that, the squad competed at Carrum and Albert Park in April.

The squad rose to the challenge of the longer head season races competing in the Salty, Foot of the Goulburn and Melbourne Head, making the transition to sweep rowing . A highlight was the entry of a mixed crew in the Head of the Yarra.

Regular training sessions have taken place on Wednesday and Friday. More recently a number of members have also trained in singles on Saturday morning. Lacinta has coached the single sessions and we thank Lacinta for conducting these sessions.

It has been very pleasing that as the year has progressed, a number of members of the development squad have commenced training and racing with more experienced club rowers.

We also would like to thank Helen Menhennitt for all her the help this year. She has made the early morning trip to the club every Wednesday and Friday to coach the crews. The terrific progress and success that we have seen in the squad has in large part been due to her efforts.

We are looking forward to continuaing the progression of our rowers in 2025 and welcoming new members to the club. If you are interested in joining and continuing your rowing journey then please get in touch!
