Despite very challenging conditions with heavy rain and winds, PHRC had a ripper of a day
We entered 6 crews in the Barwon River head race, a time trial over 4000 metres. The weather proved challenging for some crews, with the heavens opening in the middle of the second bracket of racing. But despite this, our club had some excellent results, and showed that we are nearly ready to take on the ultimate head race, the Head of the Yarra.
The Men’s Masters 8 had a fantastic row, expertly stroked by Brent, coming in 3rd behind a very speedy Melbourne Uni crew heading to Boston for the Head of the Charles, and just 3.51 seconds behind a very polished Yarra Yarra crew.
Cinty and Em blitzed their race to come 4th in the A-C grade, but 1st as a B grade crew.
It was great to see Dave Mayes racing in his 1x, with a 3rd place in a hot field of 8
Brent, Andre and Dave (with Mario) finished 3rd in the MM4x-, in a huge field of 9 crews.
Our mixed 4x, Emily, Cinty, Chris and Alex came in a fast 2nd behind Essendon.
And finally, in the MM4+ Ross, Brenton, Nigel,& APSM rower surprised a confident MRC crew by beating them by a resounding 10 seconds.
