On 29th April 2023 a contingent of Power House Rowers rowed in the 2023 Ballarat Masters Rowing Regatta.

The traditionally windy and choppy Lake Wendoree put up great conditions. The day was sunny (albeit a little chilly) and the water provided ideal rowing conditions for the competing crews.

The club had 21 members and 2 coxes compete in 14 events throughout the day. There was a real buzz about the day, with all members of Power House Rowing Club who chose to compete banding together to support one another and do the club proud. There were several great wins (highlighted at the end of this article). But there were also some honourable mentions including:

• N.Finney, R.Mursell, B.Beattie, B.Rasheed, Cox: H.McManamny in the Male Masters Coxed Quad Scull, who lost their long standing podium boy status, but continued to provide strong competition with strong 2nd place finishes.
• K.Venzke, J.Gostelow, J.Johnson, K.Schmidt, Cox: H.McManamny in the Female Masters Coxed Quad Scull who nearly ran down a hefty 23 second handicap, coming in second place, coming in just 3 seconds behind the Melbourne/Richmond composite crew, and a strong 16 seconds ahead of their next closest competition.
•  J.Nuttall who helped her crew ( J.Gostelow, J.Johnson, J.Nuttall, K.Taylor, Cox: D.Spring) achieve 3rd place in the Female Masters Coxed Quad scull in her long awaited return to racing.
• Continued strong performance by our Mixed Masters Coxed Quad Scull legends C.Schlicht, E.Harridge, L.Rodriquez, J.Atchison who came 2nd in their quad against stiff competition.

Our awesome volunteers, Stephen and Deb Spring, umpired at the event, and John Atchison once again ensured our boats were safely transported via trailer to the event. Thanks as always for volunteering your time and expertise. Your contribution is highly valued.
