Australian National Masters Rowing Regatta 2024

Published Fri 17 May 2024

Emily Harridge learnt to row at school in the early 1990's at Hawthorn rowing club before going on to row at school for MLC. She gave up rowing in year 11. She returned to rowing in 2013/14 after a 20 year break, and re-entered a much changed rowing community. Wooden boats and oars were now made of carbon fibre, and the once sweep oar rowing dominated sport had grown a strong sculling community. With the help of her coaches and mentors she has gone from strength to strength in her rowing.

Emily joined Powerhouse Rowing Club in 2020. Since joining PHRC she has been selected in the Victorian Female Masters 8 (squad), five years in a row. Emily is a proud to represent both Powerhouse and Victoria.

Five rowers, Emily, Chris, Alex, Pete and Ross, journeyed across Bass Straight to represent Powerhouse at the Masters Nationals Championships in Lake Barrington, Tasmania.

Many great memories were made, and we all had a wonderful time on and off the water. It was a fabulous experience with fierce competition, the chance to catch up with friends from all over the country, much excitement, and stunning scenery..

Powerhouse did very well despite the few participants, achieving excellent results with medals in 10 events.

Lake Barrington did not disappoint, and the weather stayed fine for the week.  One of the highlights was the spectacular Aurora lights we experienced in Deloraine.

Overall, it was a very successful trip, and it was a pleasure to row with people from different clubs and to represent Powerhouse Rowing Club and Victoria.
